About the Faculty

Dr. Larisha M. Lyndem joined the department in the year 2007. She has obtained her masters degree from NEHU (1994) and her doctoral degree from Northeastern Hill University, Meghalaya (2002). Before joining the department she worked as a lecturer at the Department of RDAP, North Eastern Hill University Tura Campus, Meghalaya (2006-2007) and at Don Bosco college, Tura, Meghalaya since (2001-2006). Her research area of interest includes anthelmintic screening of compounds for drug development, taxonomic identification of fish parasites and probiotics of indigenous and traditional sources for anthelmintic studies.

 

Awards and Professional Recognitions

  • Swarna Jayanti Puraskar for the best research paper in the Section of Biological Sciences organized by “The National Academy of Sciences, India” 25th-27th October, 2002.

  • Best Poster Presentation at the 3rd Global Meet on Parasitic Diseases organized by the “Indian Society Of Parasitology” in Bangalore University, Bangalore.12th -16th January, 2004.

Current Research Activities

Our Lab is working on prevalence and treatment of helminth infection of zoonotic and social importance for several years. We are presently screening different medicinal plants, phytochemical compounds, their mode and mechanism of action and toxicity studies. She is also currently working on isolation and characterizing of probiotics from indigenous source of helminth infection and evaluate their mode of action.​
