About the Faculty

Dr. Vinod Kumar Chauhan joined in the department in the year 2021. He has obtained his masters degree from University of Mysore(2011) and doctoral degree from University of Hyderabad (2018). Before joining the department he worked as a post doctorial research associate at University of Hyderabad (2018-20). His research area of interest is insect molecular biology and physiology, insect pathology and integrated pest-management. 

Awards and Professional Recognition

  • ​Participated as Resource personnel (Molecular Biology) in DST –SERB School in Insect Biology held at University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad (2015), Punjabi University, Patiala (2016), St. Joseph's College Devagiri, Calicut University (2017)

  • Travel Grant Award from Society for Experimental Biology (SEB), London, UK for oral presentation at CEIP 2015, Trivandrum, Kerala (2015).

  • Louis Pasteur Research Award For the year 2007-08 for excellence in Microbiology Research from Nizam College, Osmania University, Hyderabad, 2008.

Current Research Activities

Our laboratory at Visva-Bharati is primarily focusing on early diagnosis of diseases in Bombyx mori, Host-plant induced alterations in gut digestive proteases and metagenomic profile of the polyphagous pest Spodoptera litura, thermoplastic degradation using stored grain pest Corcyra cephalonica and elucidation of development in insect resistance towards Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) toxins in Achaea Janata
